Library Internet / CD-Rom Station Use
Policies in the use of the Internet Section
The terminals are available for use from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. only from Monday to Friday. The terminals may be used only for Internet data searches and retrievals for academic and research purposes. (Note: Browsing pornographic sites and any other related materials are strictly prohibited. Violators will be subject for disciplinary action.) Only students with validated registration forms are allowed to use the terminals.
Each student is given fifteen hours (15) browsing time per semester. Once this is consumed you are no longer authorized to use the access terminals. For additional hours, please use the Internet Access Request Form (IARF) at the EDP office. In cases where the number of requesting users cannot be accommodated anymore by the number of our access terminals, each student is limited to a maximum of 1 hour per use. The First-In-First-Out (FIFO) rule applies.
For reservations, use the Internet Reservation form (IRF). Reservations may be made for terminal use at the EDP Office at least one (1) day before the desired schedule. (Note: Reservations not claimed within 15 minutes of the reserved time may be forfeited in favor of other users.)
Only one (1) user is allowed per access Terminal. Multiple entries are not allowed. Talk quietly and briefly. Loud talking and other disruptive behavior are unacceptable. All USERS are responsible for providing and SECURING THEIR OWN DATA, data disks and backup files.
If a machine malfunctions or if you have evidence of a computer virus, notify the computer technician or the librarian-in-charge. Post a sign on the machine warning others. Do not use another machine unless the computer technician or librarian-in-charge gives permission. Do not save data files on computer hard disks.
Help keep the Internet section clean. Do not consume food or beverages inside the section. Student caught destroying any equipment/accessory shall be held liable for the cost of such equipment/accessory and shall be subject to disciplinary action.
The Library reserves the right to cancel or terminate usage when acceptable use rules are violated. Silence must be observed inside the Internet section. No ID no ENTRY policy is strictly implemented. Printing charges are as follows: P5.00 – Draft (text only) P10.00 – for colored print-out

Selections of CD-ROMs are available for use. Researchers may refer to the librarian on duty for reference materials and headset.

Each researcher is allowed to use the workstation for a maximum of one hour and subject to the availability of the computer unit. Researcher must check the assigned workstation before accessing it. Report any damage on assigned workstation to the librarian in charge. Otherwise, the user will be presumed responsible for any damage and maybe asked to reimburse expenses for repair or replacement of the facility. Researchers must work only on their assigned workstation for the duration of their research, and should avoid moving around and changing workstations. Researchers must arrange their seats properly before leaving the workstation.
Vandalism is a serious offence, violators will be subjected to disciplinary action. Use of computer program other than CD-ROM is strictly prohibited. All diskettes must first be approved by the librarian in charge to avoid viruses.
Eating, Drinking, smoking and littering are not allowed. Talking aloud, group discussions are to be avoided. The library is not responsible to any loss of personal valuables of the researchers. The library reserves the right to cancel the use of the facilities if any of the policy has been violated.
